Prix Denis Pronovost Award 2022

JP Amiel Marcel Charbonneau, T.P., ASQ CQA, a mené le projet de la Section de Montréal pour créer un prix de 500 $ en l’honneur de Denis Pronovost, décédé en juin 2015. Par sa contribution exceptionnelle à l’association, son leadership et son implication, Denis a grandement participé à la promotion de la qualité du français au Québec et était un invité et conférencier fréquent de la section.

Rappellons que Denis avait une carrière de plus de trente années d’expérience de travail principalement en enseignement et consultation dans le domaine de la gestion, de l’assurance qualité et des audits. En 1990, avec Pierre Caillibot, il a fondé Academia Qualitas au Québec, où ils ont élaborés des cours et formé des professionnels de la qualité dans les secteurs de la fabrication, des services et des laboratoires. Denis a été membre du Comité consultatif canadien de l’ISO/TC 176, particulièrement actif dans le groupe de travail sur la terminologie, dans le groupe de travail sur les interprétations et dans le groupe de travail conjoint CCC/ISO/TC 176/CAC/ISO TC 207 sur l’audit et sur l’avenir de la norme d’audit ISO 19011.

Il était aussi auditeur principal de systèmes de management de qualité (SMQ) certifié par le Registrar Accreditation Board (Conseil d’accréditation des bureaux d’enregistrement, RAB) et membre senior de l’American Society for Quality (ASQ). Denis a été membre actif et président de la Section Montréal francophone de l’ASQ de 2012-14. Il a été conférencier et instructeur en Amérique du nord, Amérique centrale, Europe et Asie. Plus de cinq fois, il est venu à la section de Montréal nous présenter l’évolution du dossier des normes ISO 9000 et ISO 14000. En 2000, il a publié Internal Quality Auditing (Les audits internes de qualité), un guide pour réaliser des audits internes efficaces, édité par l’ASQ.

Ce 8 juin 2022, Marcel a remis le certificat à Patrick Barnes, étudiant au Certificat en gestion et assurance de la qualité de l’École de technologie supérieure, un programme multidisciplinaire qui offre une formation ou un perfectionnement en gestion et en assurance de la qualité. Patrick nous présentera un résumé de son projet d’amélioration de la qualité à l’ETS.

Marcel Charbonneau, T.P., ASQ CQA, led the Montreal Section project to create a $500 award in honor of Denis Pronovost, who passed away in June 2015. Through his outstanding contribution to the association, his leadership and his involvement, Denis greatly participated in the promotion of quality in French in Quebec and was a frequent guest and speaker at the Section.

Denis had a career of more than thirty years of work experience mainly in teaching and consulting in the field of management, quality assurance and audits. In 1990, with Pierre Caillibot, he founded Academia Qualitas in Quebec, where they developed courses and trained quality professionals in the manufacturing, service and laboratory sectors. Denis was a member of the Canadian Advisory Committee to ISO/TC 176, particularly active in the Terminology Working Group, Award_Prix-Denis-Pronovost-PatrickBarnes_2022 the Interpretations Working Group and the joint CAC/ISO/TC 176/CAC/ISO TC 207 Working Group on Auditing and the Future of the ISO 19011 Audit Standard. He was also a lead auditor of quality management systems (QMS) certified by the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB) and a senior member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Denis was an active member and Chair of the ASQ Montreal Francophone Section from 2012-14.

Denis was a speaker and instructor in North America, Central America, Europe and Asia. On more than five occasions, he came to the Montreal Section to present the evolution of the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 standards. In 2000, he authored Internal Quality Auditing, a guide to conducting more effective internal audits, published by ASQ.

On June 8th, 2022, Marcel presented the award to Patrick Barnes, a student at the Certificat en gestion et assurance de la qualité de l’École de technologie supérieure (Management and Quality Assurance Certificate) of the École de technologie supérieure, a multidisciplinary program that provides training or development in management and quality assurance. Patrick will present a summary of his quality improvement project at the ETS.

Call for Officer Nominations | Appel à candidatures 2022

We are planning the 2023 Section Leadership Team (SLT). There are three elected positions on the SLT: Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.

The election process involves the Nominating Committee submitting a slate of officers and the slate being approved at the General Assembly. To hold a Section Officer position, you must be a Full, Senior or Fellow ASQ Member in good standing affiliated with our Section. Should you wish to submit alternate nominations for Section officer positions, please complete and submit the Nomination Form.

This call for nominations will be repeated in the next edition of our Newsletter in September, and the proposed Leadership Team slate will be published in the October edition of the Newsletter. The new Leadership Team will be approved at our Annual General Assembly to be held on October 26th, 2022. Here is a complete listing of current ASQ Montreal Section positions.

Benefit corporations and B Corp certification

In this presentation on May 25th, 2022, Dr. Carolee Rigsbee (Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Springfield) gave us a quick overview of benefit corporations and B Corp certification standards as it evolved over the last decades based on her research on the subject.

Her presentation first described how a “not-for-profit” benefit corporation had a similar structure to a “for-profit” one – a profit-making goal – but that it also makes a material positive impact on society and the environment, to be socially responsible. Over the last few decades though, the latter has also become a bigger trend as the public expects that “all” for-profit corporations also be more socially responsible.

Then she described the evolution of the standards, started in 2010, which define the basis of a benefit corporation and the B certification processes.
She then challenged the participants to discuss, in three breakout rooms: What Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)/Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) changes are affecting your company? What skill-sets do Quality Assurance Professionals bring to the CSR/ESG table? And, finally, How will these trends evolve or need to evolve? Of course, in a true quality professional spirit, here is a summary of those discussions as reported:

As for CSR/ESG changes: Certain corporations, like Heinz, have developed packaging reduction programs to bring back and reuse their glass bottles; there is a change for more economic and lower energy and heat lighting with annual energy consumption reduction targets; Report of carbon disclosure projects initiated by customer request; CSR going with RBA model; Montreal building all LED; Reporting rates for carbon emissions and recycling; ISO 14001 & CSR demands increasing; Reducing waste, e.g. water & hazardous waste targets; Mid-90s company tracked and reduced waste many years – cut in half by 5 years (United Technologies) – Goals met – water use & hazardous chemicals + Net zero carbon footprint reduction target; Not so much in medical device, FoxConn was big on CSR, e.g. minerals – work with suppliers; EcoVadis CSR questionnaires on carbon footprint, now requested by customers.
As to what skill-sets quality professionals bring to the organization: Many ideas were discussed as to the role of engineering, education and availability.
As far as the evolution of the trends and how: Green-washing is an ongoing major concern; Skepticism that third party sustainability/ESG related certifications will be effective; ESG trends depend on the country’s policies (e.g. Australia – recent elections indicated support from public on addressing climate change) and time-frame (could be many decades before KPIs well developed /standardized); a problem since time is of the essence; Lots of push to electrification (e.g. vehicles) but need more renewable power generation.

You definitely missed a good debate on a popular subject – a 100% vote by the participants and 96% on exchange. As far as some of the comments received: Present style and format is very good. Well done! Interesting again! Wonderful evening.

Dans cette présentation du 25 mai, 2022, Dr. Carolee Rigsbee (professeur adjoint à l’Université de l’Illinois à Springfield) nous a donné un aperçu rapide des sociétés de bienfaisance et des normes de certification B Corp telles qu’elles ont évolué au cours des dernières décennies sur la base de ses recherches sur le sujet.

Elle a d’abord décrit comment une société de bienfaisance “à but non lucratif” avait une structure similaire à une société “à but lucratif” – un objectif de rentabilité – mais qu’elle avait également un impact positif important sur la société et l’environnement, pour être socialement responsable. Cependant, au cours des dernières décennies, cette dernière tendance s’est accentuée, le public s’attendant à ce que “toutes” les sociétés à but lucratif soient également plus responsables socialement.

Elle a ensuite décrit l’évolution des normes, lancées en 2010, qui définissent la base d’une société à but non lucratif et les processus de certification B. Elle a ensuite mis les participants au défi de discuter, dans trois salles de discussion: Quels changements en matière de responsabilité sociale des entreprises (RSE)/de gouvernance environnementale, sociale et d’entreprise (ESG) affectent votre entreprise? Quelles compétences les professionnels de l’assurance qualité apportent-ils à la table RSE/ESG? Et, enfin, Comment ces tendances évolueront-elles ou devront-elles évoluer? Bien entendu, dans un véritable esprit de professionnel de la qualité, voici un résumé de ces discussions tel que rapporté:

En ce qui concerne les changements en matière de RSE/ESG: Certaines sociétés, comme Heinz, ont développé des programmes de réduction des emballages pour ramener et réutiliser leurs bouteilles en verre; il y a un changement pour un éclairage plus économique et à faible consommation d’énergie et de chaleur avec des objectifs annuels de réduction de la consommation d’énergie; Rapport des projets de divulgation du carbone initiés à la demande des clients; RSE allant avec le modèle RBA; Bâtiment de Montréal tout LED; Taux de rapport pour les émissions de carbone et le recyclage; ISO 14001 & les demandes de RSE augmentent ; Réduction des déchets, ex. Objectifs de réduction des déchets, par exemple de l’eau et des déchets dangereux; Une entreprise du milieu des années 90 a suivi et réduit ses déchets pendant de nombreuses années – ils ont été réduits de moitié en 5 ans (United Technologies) – Objectifs atteints – utilisation de l’eau et des produits chimiques dangereux + Objectif de réduction de l’empreinte carbone nette zéro; Moins dans le domaine des dispositifs médicaux, FoxConn était très impliqué dans la RSE, par exemple en ce qui concerne les minéraux – travail avec les fournisseurs; Questionnaires RSE EcoVadis sur l’empreinte carbone, maintenant demandés par les clients.
Pour ce qui est de l’ensemble de compétences qu’apportent les professionnels de qualité à l’organisation: De nombreuses idées ont été discutées quant au rôle de l’ingénierie, de l’éducation et de la disponibilité.
Quant à l’évolution des tendances et comment: L’écoblanchiment est une préoccupation majeure permanente; le scepticisme quant à l’efficacité des certifications tierces en matière de durabilité/ESG; les tendances ESG dépendent des politiques nationales (par exemple, en Australie – les récentes élections ont montré que le public était favorable à la lutte contre le changement climatique) et du calendrier (il pourrait s’écouler plusieurs décennies avant que les indicateurs clés de performance soient bien développés/normalisés); un problème puisque le temps est essentiel; l’électrification est fortement encouragée (par exemple, pour les véhicules) mais il faut davantage de production d’énergie renouvelable.

Last month in this column we featured Ruth Stanley, ASQ Canada’s former Regional Director. This month we are featuring one of our very longest serving members Rosaire Ratelle, B. Eng., ASQ CQE. April 1st saw Rosaire celebrate 46 years with the ASQ. Like Marcel Charbonneau featured two months ago, Rosaire was instrumental in the development and evolution of the Quality institutions in Quebec.

Rosaire has worked and consulted in various industries and companies. He had the opportunity to watch, act and share his thoughts on the evolution of various quality techniques at work and in various articles he authored. He was also a player in the Quebec quality movement.

Student Outreach: AI innovations revolutionizing future of healthcare!

Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovations can change patients’ lives by improving diagnosis/treatment methods and assisting clinicians in making informed decisions. In this presentation, we introduced the general applications of AI in healthcare. More specifically, how AI models can assist radiologists in analyzing medical images for a more accurate and faster diagnosis/prognosis of diseases. Nastaran Enshaei was invited to speak about her work with AI at the ASQ Montreal Student Outreach series this May 19th, 2022.

About the speaker: Nastaran Enshaei is a PhD candidate at Concordia Institute for Information System Engineering (CIISE). She holds a Master degree in Quality System Engineering from Concordia University and has been actively involved in performing research in the healthcare domain. In particular, she is working on deep learning-based solutions for analyzing medical images. Nastaran’s research contributions have been published in International Journals and Conferences of high caliber in engineering and healthcare venues including but not limited to Signal Processing magazine and Nature Scientific Reports.

ASQ Certifications Accredited | Accréditation des certifications

On April 14, 2022, ASQ announced that five of ASQ’s certification programs achieved ISO 17024 Personnel Certification Documentation Consultancy accreditation through the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). ANAB is the largest multi-disciplinary accreditation body in the western hemisphere, with more than 2,500 organizations accredited in approximately 80 countries.

By earning ISO 17024 accreditation for Personnel Certification, ASQ demonstrates to the Quality profession it represents and the general public it serves, that its credentialing programs have been reviewed by a panel of impartial experts who have determined that our CQA, CQE, CSSBB, CMQ/OE & CRE programs have met the stringent standards set by the credentialing community.

ISO 17024 accreditation adds additional credibility and value to your ASQ Certification. “Accreditation is not just an award – it’s critical to ensuring that there is an effective quality management system that affords greater process control, reduces risk, and ultimately results in increased customer satisfaction and sustainability of our products and services..” said ASQE CEO, Jim Templin.

Last month, in this column we featured Marcel Charbonneau, a very long time member of the ASQ. Some of our members are not necessarily long time members of the ASQ, but they are long time practitioners of Quality. They also come with a myriad of talents that have helped them have very successful careers inside and outside the Quality domain. We had the pleasure of interviewing Ruth Stanley, former Regional Director for the ASQ Canada and Greenland region. She described her career in Quality and her career as a leader. This is what we learned.

RUTH STANLEY – PRESIDENT, BOANN CONSULTING

Ruth Stanley has 30 plus years in Quality working as a public servant in a number of branches of the Canadian Federal Government. While there she worked with ISO standards: 9001 for quality systems; 14000 for environmental standards; 17025 for laboratory information systems and 31000 for risk management.

Ruth became a member of ASQ in 2014 in the Ottawa Section. In 2017 she took the lead on organizing the first ASQ Canadian National Quality Conference which was hosted by the Ottawa Section. Following that she served as the ASQ Regional Director for Canada Greenland Region in 2019 and 2020, then stepping down to be Deputy Regional Director in 2021. From those positions, she was deeply involved in both the 2020 and 2021 ASQ Canadian National Quality Conferences hosted by Toronto Section and Montreal Section respectively. Now retired from the Federal Government, she is far from retirement. She is an author, presenter, blogger and now founder of Boann Consulting.

Student Outreach: Sustainability in Supply Chain

In today’s competitive business environment, to stay in business and keep up with competitors, it is of significant importance for a supply chain network to operate at its fullest potential. Increased demand for consumer products, however, has resulted in irreversible negative impacts on the environment. This coupled with increased global pollution rate over recent decades has resulted in an urgent quest to design and develop green and sustainable supply chain network. Generally speaking, sustainability in supply chain management focuses on orchestration and continuous improvement of planning and execution of processes on strategic, tactical and operational levels.

As a researcher working on sustainability in supply chain network and as part of the vision to bring industry into classroom, we organized an invited distinguished seminar delivered by Veronica B. Marquez, Social Media Chair at ASQ Montreal. Veronica delivered a unique and an insightful presentation focused on green and sustainable supply chain network. The talk was devoted to strategic vision for advancement of lean and green supply chain networks and how the lean concepts and quality tools can be applied to achieve a sustainable supply chain network.

La section de Montréal de l’ASQ a créé un prix de 500$ en l’honneur de Denis Pronovost, décédé en juin 2015. Par sa contribution exceptionnelle à l’association, par son leadership et son implication, il a grandement participé à la promotion de la qualité en français au Québec.

Ce prix sera remis à un étudiant du Certificat gestion et assurance de la qualité de l’École de technologie supérieure, un programme multidisciplinaire qui permet d’acquérir une formation ou un perfectionnement en gestion et assurance de la qualité. Il permettra à un(e) candidat(e) de présenter des références tangibles telles que:

1. La constance de ses résultats académiques;
2. La présentation d’un sujet relié à la gestion de la qualité (ex. un stage relié aux techniques et outils de la qualité, un travail de recherche, d’étude de cas d’amélioration d’un processus, ou autre);
3. Sa participation, son attitude, son esprit d’équipe et son implication;
4. Le respect de la langue française dans ses textes et présentations orales.

Rappellons que Denis avait une carrière de plus de trente années d’expérience de travail principalement en enseignement et consultation dans le domaine de la gestion, de l’assurance qualité et des audits. En 1990, avec Pierre Caillibot, il a fondé Academia Qualitas au Québec, où ils ont élaborés des cours et formé des professionnels de la qualité dans les secteurs de la fabrication, des services et des laboratoires. Denis a été membre du Comité consultatif canadien de l’ISO/TC 176, particulièrement actif dans le groupe de travail sur la terminologie, dans le groupe de travail sur les interprétations et dans le groupe de travail conjoint CCC/ISO/TC 176/CAC/ISO TC 207 sur l’audit et sur l’avenir de la norme d’audit ISO 19011.

Il était aussi auditeur principal de systèmes de management de qualité (SMQ) certifié par le Registrar Accreditation Board (Conseil d’accréditation des bureaux d’enregistrement, RAB) et membre senior de l’American Society for Quality (ASQ). Denis a été membre actif et président de la Section Montréal francophone de l’ASQ de 2012-14. Il a été conférencier et instructeur en Amérique du nord, Amérique centrale, Europe et Asie. Plus de cinq fois, il est venu à la section de Montréal nous présenter l’évolution du dossier des normes ISO 9000 et ISO 14000. En 2000, il a publié Internal Quality Auditing (Les audits internes de qualité), un guide pour réaliser des audits internes efficaces, édité par l’ASQ.

The ASQ Montreal Section has established a $500 award in honor of Denis Pronovost, who passed away in June 2015. Through his outstanding contribution to the association, his leadership and his involvement, he greatly participated in the promotion of quality in French in Quebec.

This award will be presented to a student in the Certificat en gestion et assurance de la qualité (Management and Quality Assurance Certificate) of the École de technologie supérieure, a multidisciplinary program that provides training or development in management and quality assurance. It will allow a candidate to present tangible references such as:

1. Consistency of academic performance;
2. Presentation of a subject related to quality management (e.g., an internship related to quality techniques and tools, a research project, a process improvement case study, or other);
3. His/her participation, attitude, team spirit and involvement;
4. Respect for the French language in the texts and oral presentations.

Denis had a career of more than thirty years, mainly in teaching and consulting in the field of management, quality assurance and audits. In 1990, with Pierre Caillibot, he founded Academia Qualitas in Quebec, where they developed courses and trained quality professionals in the manufacturing, service and laboratory sectors. Denis was a member of the Canadian Advisory Committee to ISO/TC 176, particularly active in the Terminology Working Group, the Interpretations Working Group and the joint CAC/ISO/TC 176/CAC/ISO TC 207 Working Group on Auditing and the Future of the ISO 19011 Audit Standard.

He was also a lead auditor of quality management systems (QMS) certified by the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB) and a senior member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Denis was an active member and Chair of the ASQ Montreal Francophone Section from 2012-14. Denis has been a speaker and instructor in North America, Central America, Europe and Asia. On more than five occasions, he came to the Montreal Section to present the evolution of the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 standards. In 2000, he authored Internal Quality Auditing, a guide to conducting effective internal audits, published by ASQ.

Lean start-up of a centre for pediatric emergencies (Démarrage Lean d’un centre d’urgence de pédiatrie) by Dr. Sasha Dubrovsky, President and Co-Founder of UP.

Well we really hit our mark this time! The presentation by Dr. Sasha Dubrovsky, President and Co-Founder of UP (centre d’Urgences Pédiatriques – Centre for pediatric emergencies) was our most appreciated event of 2021. His story of how he used the quality principles he learned while a member of the developing quality system at Montreal’s Children’s Hospital (read the review by Gordon Ayotte) into a well run Lean organization was inspiring, to say the least. We had 30 participants and 22 took the time to give us a feedback: Dr. Sasha got 100% for Subject matter, Approach, Presentation and Exchange. I believe that this is the highest we have ever had for a single event in quite a while.

You have to admit that it is quite rare that we hear an entrepreneur tell us how he started his enterprise using Quality and Lean principles as the basis for his organization, integrating it into his everyday operations and having teams operate it on their own. After two years of full operation, even during the latest pandemic, Dr. Sasha is now looking at expanding his clinic. One participant even proposed that he come to do it in Detroit, Michigan. This sounds like a lesson for our own governments.

Most of our participants were either consultants (38,5%) or in technical fields (38,5%) and worked mostly in manufacturing (38,5%) and health services (31%). Hey, as webinar host I didn’t vote, but I can reveal that I’m not the only one who loved this presentation. Amongst the comments collected:
• Present (event) . . . is very good. Please continue as is.
• The subject is very awesome and I learned how the quality methodologies are transforming the health industry.
• Merci pour l’organisation de cette super présentation.

Here are some of the suggestions we received for other subjects: such as more practical cases in Quebec like this one and applied statistics and Quality in public services. I am glad to add that the the program committee not only listens to suggestions but works at fulfilling them. Next year we already have the following subjects lined up for you:

Dr Sasha Dubrovsky Cette fois-ci, nous avons vraiment atteint notre but! La présentation du Dr. Sasha Dubrovsky, Président et Co-Fondateur d’UP (centre d’Urgences Pédiatriques) a été notre événement le plus apprécié cette année. Il nous a raconté la façon dont il a utilisé les principes de qualité qu’il a appris lorsqu’il était membre du système de qualité en développement à l’Hôpital des enfants de Montréal (lire la revue de Gordon Ayotte) pour en faire une organisation Lean bien gérée a été pour le moins inspirante. Nous avions 30 participants et 22 ont pris le temps de nous donner un feedback: Le Dr. Sasha a obtenu 100% pour le sujet, l’approche, la présentation et l’échange. Je crois que c’est la note la plus élevée que nous ayons obtenue pour un seul événement depuis longtemps.

Vous devez admettre qu’il est assez rare d’entendre un entrepreneur nous raconter comment il a créé son entreprise en utilisant les principes de Qualité et de Lean comme base de son organisation, en l’intégrant dans ses opérations quotidiennes et en regardant ses équipes le faire fonctionner de manière autonome. Après deux ans de fonctionnement à plein régime, même pendant la dernière pandémie, le Dr. Sasha envisage maintenant d’agrandir sa clinique. Un participant lui a même proposé de venir le faire à Détroit, dans le Michigan. Cela semble être une leçon pour nos propres gouvernements.

La plupart de nos participants étaient soit des consultants (38,5%), soit des spécialistes (38,5%) et travaillaient principalement dans l’industrie manufacturière (38,5%) et les services de santé (31%). Hé, en tant qu’hôte du webinaire, je n’ai pas voté, mais je peux révéler que je ne suis pas le seul à avoir aimé cette présentation. Parmi les commentaires recueillis:
• La présentation (l’événement) . . . est très bonne. Veuillez continuer tel quel.
• Le sujet est très impressionnant et j’ai appris comment les méthodologies de qualité transforment l’industrie de la santé.
• Merci pour l’organisation de cette super présentation.

Voici quelques-unes des suggestions que nous avons reçues pour d’autres sujets tels que plus de cas pratiques au Québec comme celui-ci et les statistiques appliquées et la qualité dans les services publics. Je suis heureux d’ajouter que le comité de programme non seulement écoute les suggestions mais travaille à les réaliser. L’année prochaine, nous avons déjà prévu les sujets suivants pour vous:

ASQ Montreal Achievement Awards

In January of last year we were pleased to acknowledge two of our leadership teams members, Jean-Pierre Amiel and Raymond Dyer for their extraordinary contributions in 2020. As much as we wanted to acknowledge the achievements of the year just gone by, we could not present the ASQ achievement award trophies because COVID restrictions prevented us from getting together for a ceremony. So this was done in a virtual format, preceding our regular monthly Webinar event. In that virtual world we could only show an image of the award trophy each of them had earned.

We also had to admit that we did not even have the trophies. ASQ headquarters staff had no access to the storage area that the trophies were kept in. They were restricted to working from home. The trophies did not become available until late summer in 2021.

As COVID restrictions eased through the late summer and fall, we planned an event for late November where we would finally be able to do justice and, in a second presentation of the award, actually hand over the trophies. This too was not to be: Omicron reared its ugly head and other personal emergencies arose that prevented our awardees from attending the event.

I ultimately decided that the awards would be put in the rightful hands, COVID and other events notwithstanding. So I made home deliveries as you can see in the photos.

The award to Ray is in recognition of all the things he did in 2020 to keep us going. In particular, the things he did to keep our monthly speaker program going with very severe COVID restrictions in place, while we were driving to make our presence fully bilingual. You all should recognize Ray as the voice and face of our monthly webinar series. He also collaborated with other ASQ Canada Sections to form a Webex training group to support ASQ Canada’s virtual needs, and he contributed to the Canada Conference hosted by Toronto in 2020. This is outside other contributions in his role as Section Secretary and as member of our Student Outreach Committee.

In 2020, J.P. took on the challenge of getting us functioning in not one, but two myASQ sites, making us the only ASQ section to have sites in two languages. He also updated our historical website to give it a more modern look. He joined the Webex training group, he contributed to the Canada Conference hosted by Toronto and he was the master control behind our webinars as we converted to the COVID imposed virtual world. This does not come close to describing all the other things he did as well.

Congratulations again to Ray and JP.

We have learned that recently the UP (Unité pédiatrique) centre received visitors who were very interested in the approach of a health system centred on patient experience and access. Not the least of which was the Minister of Health Christian Dubé accompanied by Minister Lionel Carmant, Dr. Lucie Opatrny and Martin Forgues of the Ministry of Health and Social Services, and the management team of the CISSS Montérégie Centre Richard Deschamps, Lyne Marquis, and Dr. Inthysone Rajvong.
We really appreciated Dr. Sasha Dubrovsky’s presentation on the Lean start-up of a centre for pediatric emergencies last November 24 and that we said he should meet the Health Minister… well he did. See: LinkedIn.
