And, whatever other questions you may have.

● 2023.10.25 : Assemblée générale de l’ASQ Montréal + Atelier de travail | ASQ Montreal Annual General Assembly + Workshop. Ray Dyer vous fait un sommaire des résultats de notre assemblée générale annuelle et de l’atelier sur “Ce que la Section de Montréal peut faire pour vous ?” en utilisant la méthode du Coffee Shop. Ray Dyer presents a brief summary of the results of our Annual General Assembly and the “What can the Montreal Section do for you?” workshop using the Coffee Shop method.

● 2023.09.27 : My quality career in aerospace (Ma carrière de “qualité” dans l’aérospatiale). ″The shortest distance between two points may be a straight line but it’s the least interesting too″, would be a good summary of Avrum Goldman’s presentation on his Highly Non-Traditional Quality Career in Aerospace. ● 2023.06.14: Where do Quality professionals work and where else could they work? It was good to finally see people in 3D since last October 2022 and some we have not seen at our events in a long time. After picking our way through the appetizers, Ray Dyer, our Section Chair, split the room into two groups and had them partake in huddles. Based on the Post-Its recovered, that activity went relatively well and those results are presented.
● 2023.06.14 : Où travaillent les professionnels de la qualité et dans quels autres domaines pourraient-ils travailler? Il fut enfin bon de voir des personnes en 3D depuis octobre 2022 dernier et certaines qui n’avaient pas participé à des événements depuis longtemps. Après avoir dégusté les amuse-gueules, Ray Dyer, le président de notre section, a divisé la salle en deux groupes et les a fait participer à des caucus. D’après les Post-Its récupérés, cette activité s’est relativement bien déroulée et les résultats sont présentés.

● 2023.05.23: Six Sigma Projects in the Community — Applying industrial problem solving to improve the lives of people and our communities. Event hosted by ASQ Montreal and Indianapolis Sections. Joy E. Mason, Indianapolis Programs Chair, founder and President of Optimist Business Solutions, and CEO of the Six Sigma Racial Equity Institute introduced members of three project teams who then described their projects and experiences. Some projects, seemingly unimportant (school contact) but with major consequences, and one where the analysis allowed the team to discover that a different objective actually had to be resolved to reduce the number of postpartum deaths in women in the community.
● 2023.05.23: Lean Six Sigma — Améliorer les communautés — Appliquer la résolution de problèmes industriels pour améliorer la vie des gens et de nos communautés. Événement organisé par les sections Montréal et Indianapolis de l’ASQ. Joy E. Mason, responsable des programmes d’Indianapolis, fondatrice et présidente d’Optimist Business Solutions, et PDG du Six Sigma Racial Equity Institute, a présenté les membres de trois équipes de projet qui ont ensuite décrit leurs projets et leurs expériences. Certains projets, apparemment sans importance (contact avec l’école), ont eu des conséquences majeures, et dans un cas, l’analyse a permis à l’équipe de découvrir qu’un objectif différent devait en fait être résolu pour réduire le nombre de décès post-partum chez les femmes de la communauté.

● 2023.04.26: Process Optimization Through Predictive Modelling. A personal summary of the Process optimization Through Predictive Modelling as explained by Vincent Béchard and Dominic St-Onge of Difference-GCS. Over a period of two years, they managed to turn hundreds of variables and thousands of measurements into a cohesive and predictable approach that allow operators of a Kraft pulp mill to tweak their process so as to reduce process variability and off-specifications so as to attain the objective levels. And, they even managed to explain in a way so I could almost understand everything that was said.
● 2023.04.26 : Optimisation des processus par la modélisation prédictive. Un résumé personnel de l’Optimisation des processus par la modélisation prédictive tel qu’expliqué par Vincent Béchard et Dominic St-Onge de Difference-GCS. Sur une période de deux ans, ils ont réussi à transformer des centaines de variables et des milliers de mesures en une approche cohérente et prévisible qui permet aux opérateurs d’une usine de pâte kraft d’ajuster leur processus de manière à réduire la variabilité du processus et les hors-spécifications afin d’atteindre les niveaux visés.

● 2023.03.28: How Learning Culture Assessment helps transformation. Lunchtime webinar by Anastasia Sayegh, Founder Process Excellence Systems live from Lebanon and Samer Hamadeh, Partner at ILO connected from England on How Learning Culture Assessment helps with transformation using The Learning Culture Mirror. A survey and an analysis of how an organization must continually expand its capacity and orchestrate the optimization of its systems.
● 2023.03.28: L’évaluation de la culture d’apprentissage contribue à la transformation. Un webinaire diner avec Anastasia Sayegh, Fondatrice de Process Excellence Systems en direct du Liban, et de Samer Hamadeh, Parteneraire chez ILO de l’Angleterre, sur l’usage du Learning Culture Mirror (LCM, Miroir de la culture de l’apprentissage). Une évaluation de la culture d’apprentissage qui contribue à la transformation de ces systèmes.

● 2023.03.22: Applying Intentional Creativity to Quality Management. Talk about thinking out of the box! Ruth Stanley’s Intentional Creativity approach shared strong elements with a coaching approach that really solicits individuals to think of alternatives and paths of action themselves rather than following prescribing best practices suggested to them. This event had everything we look for: information, application of theory, and an opportunity to reflect and learn. An excellent experience indeed.
● 2023.03.22 : Appliquer la créativité intentionnelle à la gestion de la qualité. Il s’agit de sortir des sentiers battus ! L’approche de la créativité intentionnelle de Ruth Stanley partage des éléments forts avec une approche de coaching qui sollicite réellement les individus pour qu’ils réfléchissent eux-mêmes à des alternatives et à des voies d’action plutôt que de suivre les meilleures pratiques qui leur sont suggérées. Cet événement avait tout ce que nous recherchons : de l’information, l’application de la théorie et une opportunité de réfléchir et d’apprendre. Une excellente expérience en somme.

● 2023.02.22: Voyage au cœur du Kata et de la pensée scientifique — Le Toyota Kata: Un outil pour vous apprendre à pêcher!. Sommaire de la présentation par Sylvain Landry, professeur titulaire de HEC Montréal par Michelle Paquin, MBA, M Sc. IT. Il nous a présenté des exemples concrets de l’application de cette méthode dans les organisations telles que l’hôpital NEA Baptist, IBM et SigmaPoint Technologies et permet de démystifier que bien que cette technique était de Toyota, celle-ci peut être appliquée dans tous les domaines. Pour eux, cette façon de réfléchir fait partie intégrante de leur ADN : “les poissons ne savent pas qu’ils vivent dans l’eau”.
● 2023.02.22 : Journey to the heart of Kata and scientific thinking — Toyota Kata: A tool to teach you how to fish!. Summary of the presentation by Sylvain Landry, professor at HEC Montréal by Michelle Paquin, MBA, M Sc. IT. He presented concrete examples of the application of this method in organizations such as NEA Baptist Hospital, IBM and SigmaPoint Technologies. This helps demystify that although this technique was initially analyzed at Toyota, it can be applied in all areas. For them, this way of thinking is an integral part of their DNA: “fish don’t know they live in water”.

● 2023.01.25 : ISO 37001: Système de gestion anticorruption. Comme 72% des participants, nous ne savions pas qu’ISO avait publié en 2016 une norme sur la gestion anticorruption. Sophie Gagnon, B. ing. et MA éthique du Groupe Philia Inc. a expliqué qu’il y aurait plus de 2,996 entreprises de certifiés mondialement et que l’objectif était de réduire ou d’éliminer les risques de dérapage par la mise en place de systèmes et mécanismes afin d’être moralement correct non seulement à l’interne, mais aussi vu de l’externe.
● 2023.01.25: ISO 37001: Anti-corruption Management System. Well, like 72% of the participants, we didn’t know that ISO had published a standard on anti-corruption management in 2016 and that it was about to be updated. Sophie Gagnon, B. ing. and MA éthique of Groupe Philia Inc. explained to us that we should not really rely on the title of this standard because it deals mainly with all the values of the company, i.e. ethics.

● 2022.11.30: Kaikaku Before Kaizen. Kaizen Teian, Kaizen Events, Kaikaku, Kakushin. How is your Japanese quality dictionary? It turns that 76% of the 27 respondents to our quick poll admitted that they had not heard of Kaikaku and that 19% had heard a little about it. Well of course, this meant that our webinar participants had both ears propped up to listen to Albanesa Ymaya, founder and CEO of the Ymaya Lean Academy and FYLA (Ymaya Lean Academy Foundation), explain live from the Dominican Republic what this beast was and how it differed from it’s better known brother Kaizen. A new concept? No. It’s just that we have been more concerned with doing Kaizen events since they are easier to realize and show results sooner.
● 2022.11.30: Le Kaikaku avant le Kaizen. Il s’avère que 76% des 27 personnes ayant répondu à notre sondage éclair ont admis ne pas avoir entendu parler du Kaikaku et que 19 % en avaient un peu entendu parler. Il va de soit que les participants à notre webinaire ont bien tendu l’oreille pour écouter Albanesa Ymaya, fondatrice et présidente du Ymaya Lean Academy et FYLA (Ymaya Lean Academy Foundation) expliquer en direct de la République Dominicaine, ce qu’était cette bête et en quoi elle différait de son frère plus connu, le Kaizen. Un nouveau concept? Non. C’est juste que nous nous sommes davantage intéressés aux événements Kaizen, car ils sont plus faciles à réaliser et donnent des résultats plus rapidement.
