Activités de sensibilisation des étudiants – mars 2026
Le mois de mars a été particulièrement chargé pour le Comité de rayonnement étudiant, avec quatre activités. Deux d’entre elles ont été organisées grâce à la section Concordia de l’IISE (Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers), dirigée par Camila et Karl. Le 16 mars, 17 étudiants ont assisté à une présentation générale sur les normes de qualité et des cas concrets, animée par Ray Dyer, Kunal Das et moi-même. Une période de questions et un exercice de résolution de problèmes ont suivi. Le 26 mars, une rencontre-réseautage autour d’un verre de vin et de fromage a eu lieu en présence de grandes entreprises comme Pratt & Whitney Canada et ABB. Au kiosque d’ASQ Montréal, de nombreux étudiants ont rencontré Eric HOSKING, Ray et Kunal pour se renseigner sur nos services et certifications.
Nous sommes retournés à Concordia le 30 mars, accueillis par l’enseignante Marzieh Ghiyasinasab, sur le thème “Les multiples facettes de la qualité”. Près de 30 étudiants en génie ont participé à l’événement, où cinq présentateurs de l’ASQ (Mutair KADIRI, Ray, Eric, Kunal et moi-même) avons parlé de leurs débuts dans le domaine de la qualité, de leurs réalisations et des outils qu’ils utilisent en priorité. Eric a été particulièrement applaudi pour son travail au sein du Groupe International de la Qualité Aérospatiale, où il a participé à l’élaboration des normes APQP; le reste de l’équipe a également été applaudi! La session a duré deux heures, suivies d’une excellente période de questions, confirmant ainsi l’intérêt des étudiants pour le domaine de la qualité.
Le 26 mars à l’ESG/UQAM, Hani ANTAR a participé à une classe en consultation (MSC en gestion), au sein d’une table ronde avec une autre personne, afin de représenter l’ASQ Montréal et de partager ses expériences, ce qu’il a fait avec dynamisme et passion pour sa profession, inspirant beaucoup les étudiants! Il s’agissait de la troisième participation de l’ASQ à cet événement, grâce à l’enseignante Olga NAVARRO-FLORES.
Notez que lors des quatre événements, l’accent a été mis sur les avantages de l’adhésion étudiante à l’ASQ et sur les formations certifiées offertes, au faible coût annuel de 31$ US. La précieuse contribution de Kunal DAS aux trois événements de Concordia est à souligner, comme initiateur et participant.

Student Outreach Activities – March 2026
March was a very active month for the Student Outreach Committee, with four activities: Two of those were held thanks to the Concordia Chapter of IISE (Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers), led by Camila and Karl. On March 16th, 17 students assisted to a general presentation on Quality standards and real life Quality cases, with Ray DYER, Kunal DAS & myself; a question period and a problem solving exercise followed. On March 26th, a wine & cheese networking event was held with the presence of large companies like Pratt & Whitney Canada and ABB; at ASQ Montreal kiosk, many students met with Eric HOSKING, Ray and Kunal to inquire about our services and certifications.
We went back to Concordia on March 30, hosted by teacher Ms. Marzieh GHIYASINASAB, on the theme of “The Many Faces of Quality”. Close to 30 engineering students attended the event, where five ASQ presenters (Mutair KADIRI, Ray, Eric, Kunal & myself) talked about their debut in Quality, achievements and “go to quality tools”. Eric was highly applauded due to his achievements at the International Aerospace Quality Group as a writer team member, to develop APQP standards; the rest of the team had applauses too! The session lasted 2 hours, including a great question period, confirming the interest of students in the Quality field.
On March 26 at ESG/UQAM, Hani Antar participated in a consulting class (MSc in Management), taking part in a roundtable discussion with another participant to represent ASQ Montreal and share his experiences. He did so with dynamism and passion for his profession, inspiring many students! This was ASQ’s third participation in this event, thanks to teacher Ms. Olga NAVARRO-FLORES.
Please note that during all four events, emphasis was put on the ASQ student membership benefits and certification courses, at the low annual cost of $31 US. Kunal DAS’s valuable contribution to the three Concordia events deserves to be highlighted, both as an initiator and participant.

Le 25 mars, nous avons participé à une excellente session animée par Marc Cloutier sur les changements à venir de la norme ISO 9001:2025. La session a réuni 38 participants de différentes régions, notamment Montréal, le Québec, Toronto, les États-Unis ainsi que d’autres parties du monde. Le sujet était très pertinent et très demandé par les membres de l’ASQ, ce qui montre le besoin de rester à jour face aux évolutions du marché.
La présentation a donné une vision claire de l’évolution de la norme. La nouvelle version conserve les bases, les principes de qualité, l’approche processus et le cycle PDCA, tout en intégrant des améliorations pour mieux répondre aux défis actuels.
Il ne s’agit pas de changements majeurs, mais plutôt d’une évolution naturelle de l’ISO 9001:2015, avec des exigences plus claires et l’ajout de nouveaux thèmes. Parmi ceux-ci, on retrouve la culture qualité et le comportement éthique, les changements climatiques et le travail à distance, ce qui souligne l’importance d’adapter le système de gestion de la qualité au contexte de l’organisation et aux attentes des parties intéressées.
Certains éléments ont également été renforcés, comme la gestion des changements, la définition des objectifs qualités liées à la satisfaction client, les programmes d’audit avec un périmètre et des critères clairs, ainsi que les mises à jour dans la revue de direction.
Il a aussi été souligné que la nouvelle version intègre davantage des concepts comme la culture organisationnelle, la gestion des risques et l’adaptation aux facteurs globaux, incluant la technologie, la cybersécurité et les changements dans l’environnement de travail.
Le présentateur a insisté sur l’importance d’intégrer ces changements de manière structurée et stratégique dans les systèmes existants.
Parmi les sujets présentés, les mises à jour liées aux changements climatiques et au leadership ont particulièrement retenu mon attention, en raison de leur importance stratégique dans le contexte actuel.
De manière générale, le présentateur a démontré une excellente pédagogie et une communication claire. Il a très bien animé la session, en intégrant des pauses et des sondages interactifs qui ont favorisé la participation.
L’ISO 9001:2025 représente ainsi une évolution pratique, rendant le système de gestion de la qualité plus pertinent et plus efficace dans l’environnement actuel.

SUMMARY OF WEBINAR “ISO 9001:2025 – Overview Of The Changes, And What Is The Impact To My QMS”

Presenter: Mr. Marc Cloutier, Strategy Consultant and ISO 9001:2025 specialist actively involved in the upcoming revision.
On March 25, we had an excellent session led by Marc Cloutier on the upcoming changes to ISO 9001:2025. The session included 38 participants from Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, the United States, and other parts of the world. The topic was highly relevant and requested by ASQ members, showing the need to stay updated with today’s market changes.
The presentation gave a clear overview of how the standard is evolving. The new version keeps the same foundation, quality principles, process approach, and PDCA, but includes improvements to better fit current challenges.
There are no major changes, but a natural evolution from ISO 9001:2015, with clearer requirements and some new topics. These include Quality Culture and Ethical Behaviour, Climate Change and Remote Work, highlighting the need to adapt the QMS to the organization’s context and stakeholder expectations.
Key requirements were also strengthened, such as change management, quality objectives linked to customer satisfaction, audit programs with clear scope and criteria, and updates in management review.
It was also noted that the new version more consistently incorporates concepts such as organizational culture, risk management and adaptation to global factors, including technology, cybersecurity, and changes in the work environment.
The presenter emphasized the importance of integrating these changes into existing systems in a structured and strategic way.
Among the topics presented, the updates related to Climate Change and Leadership particularly stood out, given their strategic importance in today’s context.
Overall, the presenter demonstrated excellent didactics and clear communication, conducting the session very well. The use of breaks and interactive surveys enhanced engagement and participation.
ISO 9001:2025 represents a practical evolution, making the quality management system more relevant and effective in today’s environment.

Nous poursuivons sur cette lancée avec notre prochain événement portant sur les katas et la culture qualité. Ce sera également un plaisir d’accueillir à nouveau une conférencière qui a déjà su marquer notre communauté.
Par ailleurs, nous explorons actuellement la possibilité d’organiser une soirée des registraires en personne, prévue en mai ou au début juin. Cette rencontre viserait à offrir un espace d’échange concret pour répondre à vos questions concernant les nouvelles versions des normes ISO.

The first months of the year have been particularly dynamic for ASQ Montreal. The success of our first three events reflects the strong interest and engagement of our community in learning, sharing, and growing within the quality profession.
We are continuing this momentum with our upcoming event on katas and quality culture. It will also be a pleasure to welcome back a speaker who has previously made a strong impression on our community.
In addition, we are currently exploring the possibility of organizing an in-person “Registrars Evening” in May or early June. This event would provide an opportunity to address your questions regarding the new versions of ISO standards.

Bonjour à tous, je m’appelle Kunal Das et je viens d’obtenir mon diplôme de l’Université Concordia. J’ai rejoint l’ASQ Montréal l’année dernière et, depuis, les membres de la section de Montréal m’ont apporté une aide précieuse en matière de développement professionnel. Je tiens à exprimer ma profonde gratitude à Pierre Marquis et Raymond Dyer. Je participe activement au Comité de sensibilisation des étudiants et j’anime régulièrement, avec notre équipe, des webinaires sur la qualité dans différents établissements de Montréal.
Mon parcours vers la qualité est assez fascinant. J’étais auparavant technologue en produits laitiers et, lorsque je travaillais dans l’industrie laitière, nous devions utiliser des outils de qualité tels que les 5S, le Kaizen et l’analyse DMAIC. Plus tard, au cours de ma carrière d’étudiant en MBA, alors que je travaillais comme chercheur au département de gestion, le directeur de l’école de commerce m’a conseillé de suivre des cours sur Six Sigma Black et l’assurance qualité, car il voyait en moi le potentiel de m’épanouir dans un environnement de gestion générale. Après avoir obtenu mon MBA, j’ai commencé à travailler dans le secteur de la chaîne d’approvisionnement et des opérations au sein de l’industrie agroalimentaire.
En 2023, après avoir constaté les nombreux progrès réalisés dans les domaines de la technologie et de l’IA, j’ai souhaité approfondir mon expertise et j’ai décidé de postuler au programme de maîtrise en ingénierie de l’Université Concordia. J’ai finalement été accepté dans ce programme et je participe actuellement à des projets d’amélioration de la qualité.
J’espère sincèrement que mon parcours vers la qualité motivera les nouveaux diplômés à rejoindre l’ASQ Montréal.
Hello everyone, I am Kunal Das, a recent graduate from Concordia University. I joined ASQ Montreal last year and ever since I have been immensely helped by the members of the Montréal division in terms of professional development. I am highly grateful to Pierre Marquis and Raymond Dyer. I am actively working with the Student Outreach Committee, and I actively present Quality webinars in different institutions across Montréal with our team.
My journey of coming into Quality is quite fascinating. I used to be a Dairy Technologist and when I was working in the Dairy Industry, we needed to use Quality tools such as 5S, Kaizen and DMAIC analysis. Later on, during my career as an MBA student when I was working as a researcher in Management department, I was advised by the director of the Business School to take Six Sigma Black and Quality Assurance courses, since he saw my potential to thrive in the General Management environment. After graduating with my MBA, I started working in the Supply Chain and Operations sector in the Food and Agriculture Industry.
In 2023, after seeing a lot of advancement in Technology and AI, I wanted to take my expertise further and decided to apply for MEng in Concordia University. I got accepted into the program eventually, and currently I am involved in improvements of Quality.
I sincerely hope that my journey to Quality may motivate new graduates into joining ASQ Montreal.

La participation à l’ASQ est extrêmement gratifiante, notamment parce qu’elle nous permet de rester à jour face aux dernières évolutions et tendances. Les rencontres favorisent toujours des discussions riches et génèrent des idées précieuses pour la pratique professionnelle au quotidien.
Un exemple récent est la présentation des mises à jour de l’ISO 9001:2025, abordée lors de la réunion du 27 mars. Ce sujet, fréquemment demandé lors des rencontres, a atteint un taux de satisfaction de 96% parmi les participants, ce qui souligne sa pertinence.
Les normes doivent suivre les transformations du monde de l’entreprise. L’évolution des modes de travail et les avancées technologiques nous poussent constamment à adapter et à améliorer les meilleures pratiques, afin de rester performants dans un environnement dynamique et en constante évolution.
Pour cette raison, en plus de se tenir informé grâce à des formations, des livres et des événements, les échanges avec d’autres professionnels ainsi que la participation à des forums où ces sujets sont abordés sont extrêmement importants.
Je le recommande toujours: participez.

Participation in ASQ is extremely rewarding, especially because it helps us stay up to date with the latest changes and trends. The meetings consistently foster rich discussions and generate valuable insights for everyday professional practice.
A recent example was the discussion of the ISO 9001:2025 updates, which was covered during the meeting on March 27. This topic, frequently requested in meetings, achieved a 96% satisfaction rate among participants, reinforcing its relevance.
Standards need to keep pace with transformations in the corporate world. The evolution of ways of working and advances in technology constantly challenge us to adapt and improve best practices, ensuring our effectiveness in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
For this reason, in addition to keeping yourself updated through courses, books, and events, discussions with other professionals and participation in forums where these topics are addressed are extremely important. I always recommend it – get involved.
