I find it hard to believe that only 8 weeks remain in 2024. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t seen it go by. Both professionally and personally, it’s been a busy year. A few things stand out in particular for me:
- A trip to Paris: In October, I spent a week in Paris with the Réseau des femmes d’affaires du Québec on a trade mission. The aim is to meet with major clients, public and private organizations, to develop our international business. During my stay, I had the pleasure of taking part in the FrancoTech conference. The aim of this conference was to bring together the French-speaking world to talk about innovation, technology and collaboration. I met people from all over: France, Cameroon, Morocco, Congo, Ivory Coast and even Quebec. It was fascinating to imagine what can be achieved with willpower and collaboration!
- Weekend in Kingston, Ontario: It’s been such a busy year, I didn’t have time to take a vacation. But I did get to spend a few days in Kingston and visit the vineyards of Prince Edward County. I made some extraordinary discoveries, enjoyed some impeccable tastings and visited a region I’d never been to before. Sometimes, you don’t have to go too far to disconnect and feel like you’re on vacation!
- The master of ceremonies at the RDV ESG conference: Last week, I had the great pleasure of hosting a conference organized by Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The aim of the conference was to present the ESG approach from various angles to over sixty entrepreneurs from the region. We welcomed extraordinary speakers who talked about BNQ21000, carbon footprint, diversity, equity and inclusion, ethics and a governance approach based on the EOS concept. It was a full day, with many key elements and ideas to create or energize ESG in business.
- My involvement with ASQ: The above points don’t have much to do with quality. On the other hand, they have allowed me to seek inspiration and develop a vision that could prove useful to ASQ Montreal. You see, for some years now, the events organized by the ASQ Montreal leadership committee have been aimed at providing our members with opportunities to meet, make discoveries, exchange ideas and learn about new subjects. However, for some time now, it seems increasingly difficult to get together, to meet up and to see each other again. Virtual events attract many participants, even from outside Montreal and Quebec. But in-person events suffer from lack of participation. Both types of activity have their advantages and disadvantages. But in-person events allow us to get to know each other a little better, to exchange ideas and connect more easily. It’s in these encounters that ideas emerge and magic happens. So don’t miss out on our upcoming in-person events. You’re sure to meet someone who’ll bring you fresh ideas, make professional connections and, who knows, maybe unearth a golden opportunity.
Although this is my last message as Section Chair, I remain involved with ASQ Montreal. Not only do I believe in the potential of what we can all contribute in organizations, but I realize more and more the importance of the quality approach and our expertise in our lives and communities. So we have an opportunity to promote the benefits of quality, to bring these notions into the community, to show the benefits of collaboration, sharing and cooperation to create a better world around us.
Hoping to see you in 2025, I wish you a very happy end to 2024, happy holidays and a new year filled with beautiful moments with family and friends!
